Christine Nguyen is a third-year doctoral student from the Department of Humanities at York University in Toronto, Canada. Her research interests include Japanese studies, anime and manga, translation studies and gender studies. For her doctoral work, she is working specifically on the criminality of gangs depicted in popular culture examples in anime and manga and how it relates to transnationalism.
